FOSDEM '08 is a free and non-commercial event organised by the community, for the community. Its goal is to provide Free and Open Source developers a place to meet.

Live Streaming

As a reminder: for those who won't be able to attend the event, a live stream of all talks held in the conference room "Janson" (that includes the Keynotes, the Programming Languages, the Build Systems and the Packaging tracks) will be provided in partnership with Linux Magazine.

The following link will take you to the schedule and streaming interface, where you can use several technologies to watch the videos (including opensource ones, with opensource codecs):
http://streaming.linux-magazin.de/en/program_fosdem.htm
(no registration nor fee required)

All sessions held in Janson (keynotes and main tracks), Chavanne (main tracks) and Ferrer (lightning talks) will be recorded and available as video files after the event (including for download), thanks to NamurLUG and Linux Magazine.

where are the videos?

Hi, First off, I want to thank you guys for providing videos of some of the talks. Now my question: Where can I find them? Maybe 'm just too impatient. My apologies if thats the case.

Codec?

The codec choice is a nightmare. Now including the codecs in a Java stuff is not solving the issue. Java is not included in most browsers. Why does the Linux Mag is not choosing OGG?

Benjamin,

Benjamin,

For hell sake check things before you say them.

Quote website: We will be using the open source Ogg/Theora codec to stream the video. The easiest way to handle this is with a Java applet for your browser to play the stream. This approach is browser, and platform-independent, no matter whether you use Linux, Windows, or MacOS.

don't have java installed

I don't have Java installed, just mplayer. Do you have any http url streaming the ogg theora?
