What motivates the open source community?

- a qualitative exploration of the underlying experiences and motivations of open source community members

In 2016 Mozilla did a qualitative exploration project into the experiences and motivations of community members from several different open source projects.

The results have been crucial in understanding what we are doing well, not so well and what others are doing better in open source engagement.

The presentation will go through the identified motivations and experiences as well as present the 4 persona's that were developed. The research will give you concrete understanding of how people engage with new open source opportunities and set examples for how to use the research in your own community work.
