Dawn Foster is a geek, community manager, open source fan, blogger, runner, reader of sci-fi, and world traveler. She is currently living in London to pursue a PhD at the University of Greenwich.

Dawn is a part-time consultant for The Scale Factory where she helps clients with community building and open source strategy. Prior to moving to London, she spent 20 years working at companies like Puppet Labs, Intel, Jive Software, and more. She has expertise in community building, open source software, metrics, and more. She is passionate about bringing people together through a combination of online communities and real-world events along with analyzing the data associated with participation in developer and open source communities. She has spoken at dozens of industry events, including many Linux Foundation events, OSCON, SXSW, FOSDEM and more.
