Simon Mudd is an Englishman living in Spain and working for a Dutch company. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computation at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), now University of Manchester. After university he started work in the financial markets, building trading systems used by the banks and brokers where he worked in London, Madrid and Amsterdam. In 2007 he changed and started working as a MySQL DBA in the Internet Travel Business at Since then the company has continued to expand rapidly and Simon has been there managing the database infrastructure as it has grown to support the business. Simon is married with two children and currently lives in Madrid, Spain.
