Paul Barker

Paul Barker has been an active member of the OpenEmbedded & Yocto Project community since 2013. He has contributed to the project in many ways, including maintaining opkg in 2013-2015. More recent work has focused on Board Support Packages for several single board computers and core components such as the archiver. Paul previously spoke about license compliance at Linaro Virtual Connect 2020 and ELC Europe 2019. Paul previously spoke at FOSDEM in 2014 about opkg maintenance and Linux based underwater noise monitoring equipment.

As a Principal Engineer at Konsulko, Paul helps resolves technical challenges for clients in all areas of Embedded Linux development including the kernel, U-boot and Yocto Project. He is also the maintainer for the SanCloud BSP for Yocto Project and a contributor to the Automotive Grade Linux (AGL) project. Paul previously worked with several clients as the Principal Engineer of Beta Five Ltd and before that he was responsible for the development and maintenance of Linux support at CommAgility Ltd, a manufacturer of telecomms test equipment.

Paul is a regular speaker at Yocto Project developer day and Yocto Project summit events, often speaking about license compliance tooling and best practices. Prior to working in Embedded Linux Paul was a research student studying underwater acoustics & underwater noise monitoring and presented research at several academic conferences.

In addition to his work with OpenEmbedded, Paul maintains a few small tools written in Python and is currently learning the Rust programming language.
