In this session, Block Founder and CEO Jack Dorsey will discuss the strategic importance of open-source technology and why Block has committed to building in the open to advance its mission of economic empowerment.

Next, Manik Surtani, Head of Open Source at Block, will share details of Block's Open Source Program Office, involvement in standards bodies, foundations, and giving back to the projects we rely on, and give a high level overview of Block’s open source strategy and direction. He will also discuss some of the open source projects and protocols that Block maintains and contributes to, such as gRPC, OkHttp, LeakCanary, Anthropic's Model Context Protocol, and much more.

The session will also introduce Block's new open source AI agentic framework. Brad Axen, the Lead Engineer on this project, will demonstrate how the agent translates LLM (large language model) outputs into practical steps that reduce time spent on maintenance and repetitive tasks, giving people time back to focus on higher-value, innovative work.
