Abigail Cabunoc Mayes
Abigail Cabunoc Mayes (@abbycabs) leads GitHub’s open source maintainer programs, supporting maintainers and fostering the sustainability of the free and open source software (FOSS) ecosystem. Before joining GitHub, Abby led Mozilla’s open source engagement for MozFest and trustworthy AI, and founded Mozilla Open Leaders, a program that supported over 600 open projects globally. She is passionate about building resilient FOSS communities and creating pathways for future maintainers.
Abby is an active advocate for free and open source software as a founding editor for the Journal of Open Source Software, host of JOSSCast: Open Source for Researchers, organizer with SustainOSS, and member of the OpenJS Foundation Board of Directors.
