Developer on the OpenRefine data cleaning tool, I am very interested in the topic of social sustainability of FOSS projects: how to onboard and retain new contributors and maintainers? What governance models work well? How can we foster a culture of contributing to existing projects instead of starting new ones? I have recently started to analyze on my blog the onboarding process in various open source projects as an attempt to learn what works best. I am also part of Kanthaus, a house for sustainable projects close to Leipzig, in Germany.
