Jan-Patrick, or JP, Lehr is a Software Development Engineer at AMD, working on ROCm, the open-source software stack for GPU compute. He studied computer science and received both his bachelor’s and his master’s degree from Technical University of Darmstadt, in 2014 and 2016 respectively. He joined the institute for Scientific Computing in 2016 as a PhD student and received his PhD in 2021 from TU Darmstadt for his work on automatic performance-profiling refinement and mini-app extraction. Since 2022, he is a member of the ROCm OpenMP GPU compiler team at AMD. Besides his activities around PIRA and MetaCG, he also initiated MPI-CorrBench and contributed to the TypeART project. He is a contributor to the PIRA profiler and the MetaCG whole-program analysis library. All tools can be found at https://github.com/tudasc.

I gave some talks before at the HPC, Big Data, and Data Science devroom: 2022 (speaker): https://archive.fosdem.org/2022/schedule/event/pira_performance_instrumentation/ 2022 (co-speaker): https://archive.fosdem.org/2022/schedule/event/hpc_knowledge_base/ 2021 (speaker): https://archive.fosdem.org/2021/schedule/event/hpc_research_tools/
