Vissarion leads development at GeomScale, a NumFOCUS-affiliated organization advancing scalable geometric computing. His work lies at the intersection of computational geometry, spatial databases, statistics, and algorithm engineering. He spent a decade at Oracle/MySQL, contributing to major open-source projects such as the Boost C++ Libraries and MySQL.

He serves as an editor for the Journal of Open Source Software and has mentored more than 20 students through Google Summer of Code, as well as MSc and PhD programs. A regular speaker at technology conferences, Vissarion also teaches MSc courses in computational geometry and algorithm engineering at the University of Athens.
