Salve J. Nilsen is a software developer based in Oslo, Norway. He's been involved in Perl communities for more than two decades, usually with organizing and other "softer" activities. He's been an occasional conference speaker on community topics, a participant and twice organizer of the Perl Toolchain Summit (PTS – the yearly summit for coordinating and solving issues around Perl and CPAN ecosystems and supply chain tooling), and a founding member and long-time contributor in Oslo Perl Mongers.

He is also a founding member of the CPAN Security Working Group, which was created specifically as a consequence of him introducing NIS2 and CRA to the PTS in April, 2023.

Lately, Salve has spent his volunteering time budget on figuring out what kind of mess he's stumbled into (SBOMs and EU laws) by talking with lots of humans and one cat. He sometimes wishes more people cared about the consequences of their actions (or inactions) on Open Source volunteers.
